The Crafty Kind

If you're a crafty kind of person who values creativity, and also a generous kind-hearted soul who wants someone in our community to feel like "we've got you", our crowd-sourced community fund could be for you.

What is the Crafty Kind Fund?

The Crafty Kind Fund is a little pay-it-forward pot that helps cover spots at future Crafternoons for people who might not be able to afford a ticket right now. It’s one small way to make our workshops more accessible and keep kindness flowing quietly in the background.

How does it work?

When people choose to chip in, their contributions are set aside just for this fund. That money is then used to fully cover reserved places at future Crafternoons for folks who put their hand up or are nominated by someone who cares about them. We (My Crafternoons) may also contribute to the fund from ticket sales or waive some of the workshop fee if required to fully fund a place.

Who can use the fund?

Anyone who feels that cost is a barrier at the moment is welcome to enquire about a funded spot. That might be you, a friend, a carer, a student, a parent, or anyone doing it a bit tough financially who would benefit from some creative time out.

How do I ask for a funded spot?

It’s simple: just email to mycrafternoons@gmail.com. You don’t need to write essays or provide proof of financial hardship, this is a trust-based system so just telling us a bit about yourself or the person you think needs monetary suupport to attend a Crafternoon is enough, alongside a best contact email.

Can I nominate someone else?

Yes, absolutely. If you know someone who would love to attend an upcoming Crafternoon but can’t stretch to a ticket right now, you’re welcome to nominate them. Just email mycrafternoons@gmail.com with their name, best contact and a little context, and we’ll reach out directly. You can choose to remain anonymous or we can tell them which person had them in mind.

Is it anonymous?

Yes. Donors and recipients are not publicised – it’s just a little quiet kindness behind the scenes. We won’t announce who has contributed, how much My Crafternoons is also subsidising a spot, or who is using a funded place. Someone whose place was funded by The Crafty Kind may choose to disclose or share their gratitude - it's entirely up to them. We may also share occasional updates on how many spots have been covered, but never with names.

How can I contribute to the fund?

From time to time you’ll see an option to add a little extra when booking a workshop (though this incurs a processing fee from the ticketing platform, with Trybooking that's currently 2.5%), or you might be invited to contribute at selected events.

There is no processing fee for donations made through PayID, so the best way is to:

  1. Select PayID in your banking app

  2. Enter this email address:

mycrafternoons@gmail.com Using the reference "Crafty Kind"

Is there a minimum or set amount to give?

No. You’re welcome to give a little or a lot – it all adds up. Even a small contribution can help cover part of a spot, and once there’s enough in the pot we can release another fully funded place, or we may choose to add additional contributions ourselves or waive some of the workshop fee if there's a request before there's enough in the pot.

Will my contribution be tax deductible?

Unfortunately not - this is a community pay-it-forward fund, not a registered charity program, so contributions aren’t tax deductible. They’re simply a voluntary contribution to support someone else in the community to come along. You won't automatically receive a receipt, but we can issue one on request. We pay tax on any contributions to this fund as though it's normal income. One day we'd love a charitable arm to be able to offer tax deductibility, but we're starting small!

Are there limits on how often someone can use the fund?

Because the fund is limited and depends on community contributions, we may need to cap how many funded spots one person can access in a year so we can share the kindness around. If demand is high, we’ll prioritise people who haven’t had a funded place before.

What happens if a funded person can’t make it?

Life happens. If someone using a funded spot can’t attend, we’ll do our best to offer that place to another person on the list, or roll it forward to a future Crafternoon.

How will I know the fund is making a difference?

Now and then we’ll share gentle updates like “This year, the Crafty Kind Fund helped cover # spots at My Crafternoons workshops.” No names, no stories that aren’t ours to tell – just a little glimpse of the impact you’re helping create. Thank you for helping to bring the crafty magic to people in our community who may need it the most. We knew you were the crafty kind ;)
