A Crafty Christmas (and Handmade Gifts Galore)
Apologies for the delay, but I've been having such a fabulous festive season that I just haven't had time to sit down and re-cap some of the creative happenings that took place over Christmas!
Now is the time to reflect on what a WONDERFUL time we had at the My Crafternoons 'Starry Night' Xmas Party... it was just magical! A HUGE -t-h-a-n-k-y-o-u- to the lovely Emma and her Mum, Leah, for hosting us in their magnificent antique-filled home, where the dramatic decor really set the scene for festive merriment!
Thanks also to my Mum, Shirley, who helped me to find and prepare the sticks, decorate the room, bake and decorate copious cookies and gingerbread men, make savouries, cakes and sausage rolls, and put together grazing platters of nibbles for everyone to feast on. We couldn't finish everything but we tried our best, as you do at Christmas!
Everyone who came did a fantastic job of constructing their sparkly stars, which turned out so beautiful that I'll be keeping mine on display all year!
We had such good sports when playing a host of festive games, from fill-in-the-blank Christmas songs, to guessing the number of 'reindeer poos' (a.k.a. chocolate raisins) in a bag, to drawing snowmen on our heads- harder than it sounds! I hope the lucky few who won prizes enjoyed their DIY kits- tag us on Instagram #mycrafternoons when you've completed your projects!
I made some other handmade items this Christmas for gifts, including some Gingerbread Body Scrub like the ones we made at a previous Crafternoon, which you can get a similar recipe for HERE.
I also made more shibori-dyed and tie-dyed gifts like baby grows, aprons, kids T-shirts, muslin wraps, cotton napkin sets and wall hangings finished with copper, which all turned out beautifully:
This Christmas I also got creative making tea blends (inspired by our tea-themed Crafternoon), succulents planted in vintage teacups, wall hangings (adapted from THIS Crafternoon) and kokedamas (like we made at THIS Crafternoon- tutorial included!)

After a restorative month spent crafting, entertaining Mum, travelling Victoria and Tasmania, reading inspiring books and discovering new creatives, we're back in action for 2017. Starting with our Tassel Necklace Crafternoon at the Grange Burn Restaurant in Hamilton- blog post on that HERE!
We'll be learning some basic jewellery making skills to construct colourful tassels and attach them to golden chains over platters of hot and cold finger food and the odd wine. If that's up your alley, send us an email to book in!
