FREE BUNTING WORKSHOP!

As part of Hamilton's ANSETT AFLIGHT Festival Of Live Art, My Crafternoons will be running an impromptu bunting making workshop tomorrow!

That's Sunday 17th April, 4-6pm at 210 Gray Street in Hamilton. Anyone interested in coming along will be helping to create some rustic blue and white bunting for an awesome community art event called Ansett Aflight happening on April 24th. We will be painting so wear old clothes! No previous experience necessary, all materials and tools provided, and everyone is welcome! You can BYO snacks and drinks (#winetime) and even if you just want to pop in for a nosey and a chat you're welcome! Think of this Crafternoon as an enjoyable, sociable and crafty community service :)

Ansett Aflight is inspired by Sir Reginald Ansett's transport empire which has a lasting legacy in Hamilton. 210 Gray Street was the old Ansett Motors building, which then became a car dealership, and now sits derelict. It's a HUGE space, and will be the hub of activity on Sunday 24th April when Ansett Aflight really takes off. The warehouse space and office buildings will be home to a wacky array of intallations, exhibitions and interactive creative activities, including a shadow capture and projection project, a room filled with feathers and paintings you'll help to create in a 'live' gallery experience.

Not only will there be art aplenty, but there will be two stages of live music featuring every genre from ska to indie, a pop-up bar called The Lubritorium where you can swig from jars and lounge on hay bales like a real hipster.

That day the whole block will come alive with a not-as-you've-seen-before street parade, directed by an opera singer on the balcony of a well-loved cafe, street food stalls and market stalls for 'duty free' shopping. Crowds will go on 'mystery flights' (through security, departure lounges and border protection too!), will enjoy a fashion show featuring vintage threads and some overall-clad hunks, and there are some wacky surprises still to be revealed!

There are more kid-friendly workshops in the run up to the big event, like Catherine Bailey's 'Paste Ups' Workshop on Friday 22nd 4-6pm at The George Hotel, and every night from 5.30pm in The Lubritorium you and swing by to get involved in more creative activities like creating a huge lantern sculpture, sign-writing, shadow-pla and chalk art. There's something for every age!

If you'd like to come to the Bunting workshop, no need to book just turn up at 4pm tomorrow, 210 Gray Street!
