Tasseltastic Tuesday!

On Tuesday we had a gloriously cosy night at the Grange Restaurant in Hamilton, crafting away to some soothing sounds, enjoying local wine and munching on platters of marinated steak, spring rolls, croquettes, garlic bread and chips- (carbs and crafting go so well together!).

With an intimate crew of 6, we really got to know each other and it was such a relaxing way to spend an evening. Thanks ladies for coming along and being so lovely!

We selected our favourite style of necklace, between cable/link chain, rope chain and a twisted curb chain.

We then used a variety of threads including embroidery floss, cottons and metallic threads to produce different styles of tassels, from squat little tassels to sleek longer ones, in the colours we felt drawn to.

You can see a tutorial of how to make a tassel HERE, which accompanies the re-cap of our Tassel Rope Necklace Crafternoon from a while back. They're very easy to make and you'll be hooked!

September's Crafternoon welcomed in Spring with a wonderful night crafting beautiful Flower Crowns in Dunkeld- and it was just FREAKING AWESOME!

It didn't matter that the weather outside was stormy- in our little haven of floral creativity we had fancy teas and coffees galore, homemade cakes and slices, biscuits, fruits and sweet treats plus stellar company, of course... and maybe the odd wine!

Dunkeld's Off The Rails is a cute converted train station used as a community arts space, at the foot of Mount Sturgeon in the Southern Grampians. We filled the room with long tables, vintage lace and floral table cloths and vase upon vase of beautiful flowers and foliage.

Partly purchased from local florists and partly snipped from the gardens of willing friends, we had everything from roses, alstroemeria and spray carnations to daisies, wallflowers and cerinthe. I loved the delightfully named Kiss Me Quick and Candy Tufts, plus the gorgeous Button Pom Pom Chrysanthemums, beca...

With room full of lovely ladies, glorious 80's tunes on Spotify, a fire cracking in the beautiful old fireplace, enough pizza to satisfy the cast of The Sopranos and a fully-stocked bar keeping us well quenched, Wednesday's Boho Bag Charm Pizza Party was just IDEAL.

Everyone made a beautiful beaded keychain or an embellishment for their bag, wall, door or rear-view mirror (great idea Amy). We had bright colour combinations inspired by the recent trend sweeping the European Islands, muted pastel tassels and beading in complimentary shades, and natural tones using rustic twine and wooden beads. All were beautiful- just check out some of the finished creations:

We had such a good time learning to make pom poms (it's all about a good, tight knot!) and tassels, how to add beading and findings like jump rings and keyrings, and how to add extra bits like bells and metal hoops. Such a great venue at The Roxburgh too, their wood-fired pizzas are delicious! We had so many yummy selection...

Having recently spent a glorious 10 days on the Spanish island of Ibiza, I am not officially OBSESSED with tassels, pom poms and all things embellishment (like I needed much encouragement!)

The latest trend sweeping Europe, especially the Greek and Spanish islands, involves a whole heap of beautiful, colourful pom poms, fringing, tassels, beading and embellishment on everything from beach bags and kaftans to clutches and sandals. I have been rocking these bad boys all over Europe, and can honestly say they make me feel like there's a little party happening on my feet!

Check out some of the boho beauties I snapped on my travels and treasures made by Easy sellers:

Last night in Hamilton's Comfort Inn Grange Burn, 8 lovely ladies gathered to learn how to make pretty flowers from paper, and make them into their very own races-ready fascinator.

We munched through platters of hot and cold finger food including arancini balls, thai spring rolls, pork belly pieces, bruschettas and mini pies and dim sims. It was all so delicious but we just couldn't get through it all- even in the 3 hours we took to leisurely chat and craft!

A few refreshing wines and ciders kept us hydrated (ahem) as we learnt the following three main techniques for building paper flowers. They all started with cutting lots of petals in different sizes, which we curved by rolling them around a spare glue stick and sometimes lightly folded in half to give them some shape.

1) Inside - out: For this method you start by rolling a centre for your flower, and surround it with small petals, gluing larger petals to the outside until you're happy with it's size. This produces a lengthe...
